BMC Crag Care Fund

BMC - Crag Care Fund

Wild Country has always taken it's environmental duties seriously and for 2009 has started, with two of our new product groups, a scheme to try and 'Give Something Back' by donating a percentage of profits to the British Mountaineering Council to support their new initiative, the Crag Care Fund.

This fund has been specifically set up to directly benefit the crags and help access and volunteer opportunities with the emphasis being on practical work. This complements the ACT (Access & Conservation Trust) which will continue to fund more policy related work, literature and larger projects.

So not only now can you get your hands on some great products from Wild Country with our new Chalk and bouldering accessories ranges but as a bonus you can help keep our climbing areas in better shape.

Thus from all chalk and bouldering products sold 2% of all the total turnover (not profit) will go to the British Mountaineering Council to help the fledgling Crag Care Fund keep our areas open, clean and accessible and repair damage.

You can find out more about the BMC Crag Care Fund by click here and visiting their website.

And remember joining the BMC will help to safeguard the UK's crags and Access for everyone.

Greener Bouldering

Greener bouldering....
However, as well as this BMC scheme it's important to remember that as individuals we have to take responsiblity for our own actions by Greener Bouldering - basically making sure that we try to leave our areas in as good (or a better) state than we find them.

And so a small list that will make a difference to start with: No chipping, use pads, use nylon brushes, clean ticks, collect trash & don’t litter, car share, use trails, recycle, support access groups and plant a tree!!
